BWLA redesigned the front door entry way of this lovely home to incorporate new wall sconce lights, new pillars, updated Eramosa limestone paving in a diamond pattern with dark grey granite banding, new limestone steps & landing and new patio pots which are planted seasonally with annual flowers by the landscapers.
In the backyard, an existing deteriorating deck was redesigned. BWLA designed a new layout for an updated ipe deck, raised spa terrace and a lower level all weather patio with fire pit at the rear of the house located along the Mianus River. Many new elements were desired to provide the family with four season access for fun and entertainment opportunities.
An updated ipe deck with custom cable railings with access from the family room and kitchen was redesigned to incorporate a Kalamazoo outdoor kitchen, all weather louvered pergola, bar seating and a large dining area and lounging area to accommodate family dining and large social gatherings. Over the outdoor kitchen a custom louvered pergola with lights, fan and remote control was installed on the deck so that the owner could grill all year long.
Under the deck, an all-weather patio was created with direct access from a newly renovated basement entertainments space. Large porcelain tiles were used on the patio space with custom screen fencing along the sides which helped to enclose the space. Heaters, fans and lights were added to allow for four season use by the family. A custom circular fire pit was centered at the edge of the patio overlooking the adjacent sloped lawn. Lawn steps provide access from the fire pit area down to the back lawn and new plantings were added to stabilize the slope below the spa terrace.
Between the upper deck and the lower patio, with direct access to the driveway, a new raised spa patio and lounging area was created with Eramosa limestone pavers and a Bradford stainless steel spa. A custom cable railing surrounds the patio which allows unobstructed views to the adjacent river. Two planter boxes were placed to allow for growing vegetables and herbs. Tiki-torch heaters were added to help keep bathers warm in the late evenings.
