This very cute cottage in New Canaan was purchase by new homeowners who wanted to updated the landscape and create a new look. BWLA first recommended removing most of the overgrown shrubbery surrounding the front of the house and then designed new plantings that complimented the new color.
The front facade of the house was planted with a few evergreen shrubs (Boxwoods) that were deer resistant and complimented the style of the house. The Boxwood globes provided winter interest, definition and structure when viewed from the driveway. Hydrangeas provided seasonal color with a Dwarf PG variety (Hydrangea paniculata ‘Bombshell’) under the windows and a reblooming variety (Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Bloomstruck’) within the beds. One existing large Blue Holly remains to hide the propane tank at the corner of the house. The new planting scheme includes summer flowering perennials, grasses and groundcovers with colorful foliage and flowers these included peonies, variegated Turf Lily, Lavender and Dwarf Fountain grass (a client favorite) which were added to the new beds.
